Dr. Pavone was born in Fairfax County, Virginia. His family moved to Syracuse, New York, in 1978. Dr. Pavone was raised in Liverpool, NY, a suburb of Syracuse.
He attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, as a student-athlete and received his Bachelor of Science degree in May 1995. Dr. Pavone majored in Genetics and Development and achieved Dean’s List designation. Additionally, he was inducted into the prestigious Red Key Society, which recognizes academic and athletic excellence in student-athletes.
Dr. Pavone’s achievements at Cornell University extended to the lacrosse field as well. During the 1995 lacrosse season, Dr. Pavone led NCAA Division I lacrosse in scoring, accumulating the most total points, the most points per game, the most total assists, and the most assists per game. He led Cornell lacrosse to the NCAA tournament, and his 1995 team finished ranked No. 10 in the country. He was selected as an NCAA Division I All-American in lacrosse.
Ivy League honors included unanimous First Team All-Ivy League selection and Academic All-Ivy League recognition. He was also recognized for outstanding athletic and academic achievement, receiving the C.F. Morse Cornell Lacrosse Athlete of the Year Award in 1995.

Dr. Pavone graduated from NYU College of Dentistry with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in May 2000. He was Valedictorian of his dental school class of more than 400 students. He was honored with the following awards for academic excellence: the Kauffman Award, the NYU College of Dentistry Alumni Award, and the Alpha Omega International Fraternity Award, each recognizing academic excellence and a No. 1 overall academic ranking. Additionally, he received the American College of Dentists Outstanding Leader Award, given to one graduating dental student. This award recognizes achievement in professionalism and leadership in the field of dentistry.
He also attended NYU School of Medicine and received his Doctor of Medicine degree in May 2004.
Dr. Pavone completed specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery, as well as a full year of general surgery training, at NYU/Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City. Additionally, he received advanced training in general anesthesia.
Dr. Pavone is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and successfully passed his recertification exam in September 2017. He has the additional distinction of being recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, which distinguishes him as an exceptional surgeon among his peers in the medical community.
Dr. Pavone is an expert in advanced surgical techniques. He utilizes, and has lectured on, computer-guided surgery and CT technology. These technologies allow for more precise correction of facial and jaw trauma, jaw defects, and growth anomalies, as well as more accurate placement of dental implants.
In addition to his full-time oral surgery practice, Dr. Pavone is on the surgical staff at Nyack Hospital. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Dr. William F. Harrigan Society (where he served as President), the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Dental Association (ADA), the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), the New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (NYSSOMS), the Bergen County Dental Society, the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity (AO), and the Rockland County Dental Society (RCDS). He also served seven years as Program Chair for the RCDS.
Dr. Pavone believes strongly in serving his community. From July 2006 through June 2014, he was a dedicated member of the Craniofacial Team at Jawonio, a center for people with disabilities and special needs in Rockland County. The Craniofacial Team received the New York State Speech and Hearing Award in 2010, and each team member was individually honored with the Jawonio Friends Award in October of the same year.
Dr. Pavone volunteers with Donated Dental Services (DDS), a program supported by the New York State Dental Foundation and the National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped. This program connects volunteer dentists, oral surgeons, and dental laboratories with elderly, disabled, and medically compromised individuals who cannot afford necessary dental and oral surgery care.
Throughout his career, Dr. Pavone has participated in numerous outreach programs, with a special focus on cleft lip and palate surgery. His volunteer work has taken him to Colombia, South America, as part of the Healing the Children Cleft Lip and Palate Outreach Program. He also traveled to Campeche, Mexico, as part of a cleft lip and palate surgical team. Additionally, he was selected twice by the NYU College of Dentistry Oral Health Outreach Program to provide care in underserved communities in the Dominican Republic, first as a student dentist and later as an oral surgery faculty member.
Dr. Pavone is married and lives in New Jersey with his wife, Jennifer, and their two children, Addison and AJ.
